The EWRVG is a collection of scripts and programs running on a Raspberry Pi B+. The Raspberry Pi is a small Linux computer that is powered with just USB power.
Every 30 minutes the Pi downloads and processes a new weather radar image from ATMOS, a UW Department of Atmospheric Sciences project.
Once a day at 6:00am PST, the Pi converts the downloaded images into a mp4 video running at 25 frames per second.
The previously downloaded, and now processed, weather radar images that were used to make the video are now deleted from the Pi.
After the new video is generated, it is merged with the previous day’s mp4 video file.
