I’m on a roll with the space theme this week and I’m LOVING this pendant which displays Voyager Space Probe Golden Record messages. It was designed by Chris Hall for a New Year’s Eve party with the same theme (makes me want to move to Chicago). It’s lasercut wood with Adafruit goodness, showing it’s messages with an OLED display, controlled with a FLORA and backlit with a NeoPixel ring. I’m all about process, so I’m going to share Chris’ first video which shows his excitement on getting things to first work on a Pro Trinket.
Finally got this sweet little 0.96" OLED monitor running – I have it showing translated greetings that are contained on…

The Golden Records are phonograph records that were included with both Voyager spacecrafts. Carl Sagan chaired the committee to decide which images, sounds and music would be included. There was even some drama because the past Pioneer plaque had nude images of a man and woman. It was decided that a silhouette would be a classier choice for the Voyagers. This pendant is adding to my collection of fave Internet of Thing (IOT) projects, and if you are also interested in displaying information in a small space, you should check out my learning guide for the Cameo OLED Necklace. I chose to do a human theme, but you could go with an image of your fave alien or pet, as well.
