Hi, Can anyone point me to a book / e book that can really fill me in with everything I need to know how to build a retaining wall with cinder blocks.
Heres a little backstory that I want to do.
My backyard has a dry creek that flows through it. Because of erosion my backyard is just a slope towards the creek. I would say the slope is decline of about 1 foot drop for 2 feet of distance.
I want to build a retaining wall to edge of the begining of the dry creek, and fill the back of it so i can have a flat backyard.
When it rains, even when it's intense rains (I live in central texas, flash flood country) the creek doesnt rise more than 1 feet.
I think the creek only gets water from one source. I think that's the reason for why it doesnt get huge even in the biggest rain storms. Also, after a rain storm the creek can keep flowing for weeks.
With that said, Should my footing be even deeper than the suggested twice as deep and twice wide for the cinder block.
Also, when is it necessary to put rebar in the actual footing?
I'm aware of sticking rebar out of the footing for the cinder block placement, but I'm not sure when I should add rebar inside the footing, or if pouring cement is all that is necessary.
The wall would be around 4 feet tall. and the length would be less than around 100 feet.
Like I said, I live in central texas, so my soil is ALL clay. So i'm well aware of how important drainage will be.
Anyway, any tips or book guidance would be much appreciated
I'm at work right now, but I can post pictures tomorrow if anyone wants more information.
