We all know Rosa Parks for her refusal to give up her bus seat, which launched the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Aside from being active in the Civil Rights Movement, Parks served as secretary in the NAACP’s Montgomery chapter, helped organize the Alabama Committee for Equal Justice for Mrs. Recy Taylor, supported the Selma-to-Montgomery Marches, the Freedom Now Party and the Lowndes County Freedom Organization and advocated for the the freedom of US political prisoners and against housing discrimination.
