I am in the process of building an addition onto my house in North-East TN. The addition will be a cinder-block garage on the first floor with a roofed, screened-in porch on the 2nd floor. It will also have a deck on the back of it.
I am questioning my flooring choices for the area that will be covered. It has a half wall around three sides, and it up against the house on the fourth wall. The roof overhangs quite a bit on all sides, but I know that some small amount of water will come in when it rains very hard.
There will be engineered I-Beams on top of the cinder-block and then out door rated plywood on top of that. Question is: Is it OK to put tile on top of the plywood?
I understand that the wood will grow/shrink with the seasons and humidity so I am afraid the grout will bust up, and have heard some horror stories about outdoor tile.
