I am trying to do what I believe would be a pretty simple and minor project but has run into an issue and do not know how to proceed. I am just trying to change out the faucet in my sink. It is a single hole model. I cannot get my old faucet OUT of the sink, however.

Here is a picture of the underside of the faucet where it comes through the sink. The nut (here loosened and partially down the threaded rod) was tightened up against the "adapter" copper tube to hold the faucet in place by pulling the faucet down and pushing up the lower mounting bracket. Here are some pictures I found of the parts disassembled to give you an idea of the assembly.

I cannot tell if the prior homeowner used some sort of sealant or bonding agent to attach the copper tube "adaptor" to the threaded rod that comes down through the sink from the faucet, or if it is just white corrosion. Either way, it is stuck tightly in place and I was unable to get it loose (see scuff marks from channel lock pliers). It is in a pretty confined space, making it more difficult.

Does anyone have any ideas of a way to get it loose without damaging the sink? I had thought of maybe a Dremmel with a flex attachment and a cutoff wheel....what else occurs to you fine folks?
