Saw this over at /r/mildlyinteresting and now I have to have it in my kitchen.

I happen to catch a glimpse of these backlit countertops over at /r/mildlyinteresting and now just like everyone else; I now want them in my kitchen.

Unfortunately, unlike the OP, my cabinets are already built, and I cannot add a special built-in shelf as they have done. I do have an onyx countertop, though, and I am pretty sure it will look awesome lit up.

I found this place that sells the modules at a reduced rate.

So, I am thinking of getting one just to test.

If you look at the close-up of the LED modules, they have mounting holes in each corner. I think I will use these to mount them on some kind of "L" bracket in the lower cabinets and just have the shine up. I am not worried about having additional light in the lower cabinets as long as I get the desired effect.

My particular question is how I would go about tying this into my existing kitchen's dimming control?

The website that offers the modules at a discount just sells the modules and no power supplies or dimming controllers. From their website I can see that the panels low voltage (24volt) and you can run multiple modules off one power supply.

My kitchen lights dim by a Lutron dimmer mounted by the switch that turns the same lights on and off. I am pretty sure that this dimmer works by dimming the 110volt that feeds into the switch.

From my research online I see that you should use a PWM dimmer with most LED products, but how do I tell if that is what my current Lutron dimmer is?

I saw in a forum that to do this I will have to use an "unregulated" power supply. Well, that just doesn't sound safe to me, but maybe I am wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
