There is not enough cosplay from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion in the world. The book tells the story of Middle-earth and beyond long before the events of the Lord of the Rings. Cosplayer Vanya Yount, also known as Rattle and Burn, crafted a Thingol ensemble, also known as Elwe, for Katsucon. It’s a design based upon descriptions in the book, and it’s befitting of one of the Children of Iluvatar. The robes are elegant and regal and she did an especially amazing job of crafting Nauglimir — the elves would be proud. The necklace/mantle of sorts features a shining Silmaril that’s lighted by an LED. The jewels are fit into a piece crafted from Worbla. It’s stunning, as is the rest of the costume. You can see Nauglimir in all its glory below.
