Hi Reddit,
I am looking at this page and don't know which LED strip to go for. http://www.klusdesign.ca/led-strips--led-bars/interior-applications/index.html
The plan: I have a 5x8.5 ft bathroom and would like to add LED strips above the vanity. I like http://www.klusdesign.ca/led-extrusions/inter-ikon-idol-imet/idol-profile/index.php as it can hide the power supply inside it. I would cut it to a width of roughly 2.5 ft + a few inches so that I can have 2.5 ft LED strips.
As can be seen in the picture (and catalog), up to three light strips can be shining at the ceiling and another three down along the mirror. So roughly 3 x 2.5ft of LED strip per side. All strips would have a frosted cover.
First of all is 2700k the right colour temperature? And second what brightness should I go for? And third does the brightness decrease with time?
The first LED strips says 106 lm/ ft. @ 2700k. That would roughly translate to 1590 lumens (3x 265 lumens to the ceiling and 3x 265 lumens down).
The second one says 225 lm/ ft. @ 2700k which would give me more flexibility and brightness. I could for example use one strip facing down at 562.5 lumens (2.5ft * 225 lumens) and add 2x 2.5ft at the top for 1125 lumens (total 1687.5 lumens).
Anyway...I'd appreciate your input as I don't know how bright I should go. 1,500 lumens seems plenty to me but then I see websites like http://www.maximlighting.com/fpage_lighting_need.aspx who recommend 2800-3200 lumens for bathrooms of my size.
