I just posted instructions for making a 2'x2' glowing minecraft ore block night light that I made for my son's bedroom as part of a "Make It Glow" contest.
I was inspired by HaHaBird's awesome life-size minecraft block post on DIY a few months ago and made a different version of my own, a bit simpler but equally cool I think.
A few ways in which it may be easier for others to do it my way:
- you don't need a router.
- no need to cut acrylic panels (I used a florescent light lens laid right behind the thin hardboard face instead of individual cutouts)
- walls for attaching lights are foam board instead of wood scrap
- size is smaller (2'x2' instead of 3'x3'; I figure a minecraft character is two blocks high, and my son is 4ft tall; therefore, 2 foot is perfect for him)
Enjoy!
