Help with floor molding please

Hey DIY, my house is old and I wanted to rehab the floor moldings. They are really pulling away from the wall. 1/4 gap at least.

Do you pros have any advice for me? I was thinking I should pry off the molding, chip and sand it and the wall, then reattach with a brad nailer and adhesive. Finish with caulk.

Is this project harder than it seems? For some reason I'm apprehensive.
