The place I work let me do something fun for my last week at this internship so i decided to make a TS808 clone for my friend.

during this project I learned a ton about soldering and how pedals and guitars work in general. It was a super fun project and if you're just getting into circuitry i recommend it whole heartedly.

I will be linking a blog article that goes more in depth if you want to try it out for yourself, but here is the jist: I started out with a little perfboard and followed a PCB schematic. I spent a ton of time soldering and resoldering to get things right. I bought all the parts and just followed the pcb schematic which was surprisingly simple. It's like legos except i get to melt stuff. I tested it out with a Oscope and a function generator, which you can see in the first picture. The yellow line is the frequency wave being put into the board, and the blue is what the board turns it into. You'll see the blue line is more of a square shape which is characteristic of a distortion wave. building this board is what took most of my time. the rest was fairly easy after this. I just drilled holes in a 1590N case and fastened everything inside.

It was 1/5 the cost of buying it retail plus i learned so much about what it was im building, so i highly recommend this project if you're into guitars.

I wrote out a blog with more info, a parts list, and a schematic Though if you are to try this yourself id recommend making a PCB first.
