How the heck do I cover up these horrible walls without completely replacing the drywall?

When I first moved into my current home everything looked fine. Except for one thing. One wall in my bedroom is absolutely horrid.

So I've been trying to find ways to fix it without replacing the wall. People have suggested wood paneling, I have it in my living room but it just wouldn't feel right in a bedroom. I may get some and paint it if it were my last resort. My cousin has suggested "styling some drywall mud through the room" .. I don't know really how to do that or how hard it is.. But if its highly suggested I would consider it. But before I do anything I thought I'd ask you guys your thoughts. Advice? Suggestions?
